Sara Ruth (Emory) Conn
Sara Ruth (Emory) Conn, 82, of Uniontown, Pa., passed away on Monday, January 8, 2007, in her winter home in Boynton Beach, Florida, with her loving husband Joe by her side. She was born October 7, 1924, in Point Marion, Pa., the daughter of Clayton Emory and Mary Jones Emory.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Charles Emory.
Sara was a member of Great Bethel Baptist Church in Uniontown, Pa., and the Triangle Sunday school class, a graduate of Point Marion High School, Class of 1942, a member of D.A.R. and the Uniontown Service League. Sara also volunteered at the Uniontown Hospital and was a board member of the Uniontown Hospital Auxiliary.
She enjoyed playing bridge and enjoyed her association with her circle of close friends. She had an active interest in the American Baptist Women’s Association of Pennsylvania and Delaware.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph G. “Joe” Conn; a son, David C. Conn and his wife Sally of Land-O-The-Lake, Florida; a daughter, Linda S. Kistler of Pittsburgh, Pa.; grandchildren, Kellie Conn and Rhonda Connella; great-grandchildren, Sammy Kistler, Amanda Connella and Dylan Connella; many nephews and nieces.
Family and friends will be received in the H. DAVID McELROY FUNERAL HOME, 803 Main Street, McClellandtown, today, January 13, 2007, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Sunday, January 14, from noon to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A brief service will be held Sunday evening after the visitation.
The family requests that friends join with them in a Memorial Service celebrating Sara’s life to be held at 11 a.m. in the Great Bethel Baptist Church, Uniontown on Monday, January 15, 2007, with Pastor Greg Cooper officiating.
Interment services later will be private in Mount Moriah Cemetery, Smithfield, Pa.
