Charles R. Anderson
Charles R. Anderson, 91, of Hopwood, Pa., passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2007, in the Laurel Ridge Nursing Center. He was born on September 15, 1915, in Uniontown, Pa., son of the late Nicholas and Margaret (Adams) Anderson.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Diane Anderson; a son, Edward Anderson; four brothers, Louis, Nicholas, James, and John Anderson; and a sister, Theresa Norris.
Charles was a great storyteller, who entertained his family and friends with all his adventurous tales.
He was a member of “the greatest generation” having proudly served in World War II the United States Navy SeaBee’s. He was a pilot, and an independent over the road truck driver. He attended Hopwood United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Bernice (McKinney) Anderson; a daughter, Patty Scott and husband, Bill of Hopwood, Pa.; grandchildren: William P. Scott and wife, Lynn of Hopwood, Pa., Lynn Barsky and husband, Rick of Houston, Texas, Kelly Fell and husband, David of Vanderbilt, Pa.; great-grandchildren: Marilyn Scott, Alexa, Amanda, and Michael Barsky, and Jaime and Hannah Fell; a brother, Steve Andrasy and wife, Irene of Masontown, Pa.; sisters: Dorothy Ballard of Philadelphia, Pa., Rose Kodric and husband, Mike of Uniontown, Pa., Mary Ange of Lansdowne, Md., and Alma Archangelina of Brook Park, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received in the STEPHEN R. HAKY FUNERAL HOME INC., 603 North Gallatin Ave., Extension, Uniontown, Pa., on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and on Saturday, January 20, 2007, until noon, the hour of service.
Military honors will be accorded by the George C. Marshall AMVETS Post 103, Hopwood, Pa.
Private interment will follow in the Sylvan Heights Cemetery.
A prayer service will be held on Friday afternoon at 3:30 p.m., lead by Father John M. Butler.
