January 19, 2007 Benefit concert set
A concert benefiting the National Cancer Society will take place from 6 to 10:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 47 in Uniontown.
Four local bands will take the stage, playing an assortment of original and covered rock music. The bands that are scheduled to perform are Dosed, All in Uniform, Lucky Vegas and Among Autumn. Drinks and snacks will be sold. An admission fee will be collected at the door.
Masontown holds meeting
Masontown Borough Council reorganized Wednesday during a special meeting, even though boroughs are only required to reorganize every two years.
During the meeting, council voted to reappoint Harry Lee as chairman and kept all current employees, renaming Carol Constable borough secretary, E. Russell King borough treasurer, Gary Monaghan as borough solicitor and Russ Mechling as borough engineer.
Council also appointed Kim Essex and Dibrell Stewart to five-year terms on the Masontown Municipal Authority and appointed Herb Steinman and Debra Piper to two-year terms on the Masontown Recreation Board.
In addition, Jan Kikta was appointed to a six-year term on the Masontown Civil Service Commission.
Council will continue to meet at 7 p.m. twice monthly on the second and fourth Tuesday of every month in the borough building.
