John Joseph Mizerak

John Joseph Mizerak, age 89, of High Point, N.C., and formerly of Vestaburg, Pa., died Sunday, January 21, 2007, in the High Point Regional Hospital. He was born January 18, 1918, in Smock, Pa., a son of the late John Andrew and Mary Kormos Mizerak.

Mr. Mizerak was a member of Saint Michael Archangel Church of the Saint Oliver Plunkett Parish, Fredericktown. He was a dedicated and generous man whose love of family was second only to his faith in God.

He was employed by the Vesta Coal Company, J & L Steel Corp. and retired from the United States Postal Service in Washington, Pa.

A World War II veteran, Mr. Mizerak proudly served with the United States Coast Guard from 1942 to 1947.

He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America, Hancock-McCune-Horne American Legion Post 705, Centerville and the B.C.R. Lions Club of Low Hill.

Surviving are four sons: David C. Husak and his wife, Barbara of Palm City, Fla., John M. Mizerak of Mechanicsburg, Pa., Mark L. Husak and his wife, Rebecca of Vestaburg, Pa., and Michael Mizerak of Newville, Pa.; two daughters: Monica J. Mizerak of High Point, N.C., and Mary M. Aglio and her husband, Bruce of Kernersville, N.C.; two brothers: Michael and William Mizerak, both of Butler, Pa.; four sisters: Mary Andler of Leesburg, Fla., Betty Andler of Butler, Pa., Ann Petroski of New Hudson, Mich., Dorothy Kozakowski of Canton, Mich.; eight grandchildren: Jennifer Aglio and Krista Aglio, Autumn Jordan, John Mizerak, Kimberly Mizerak, Danielle Mizerak, Laura Husak and Tiffany Husak; one great-granddaughter, Heather Jordan; several nieces and nephews.

Deceased are his first wife, Edith Paci Mizerak, who died April 8, 1964, and his second wife, Mary Dravetsky Husak Mizerak who died October 23, 2004, three brothers, Steven, Andrew and Joseph Mizerak.

Friends will be received on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., in the GREENLEE FUNERAL HOME, 42 Bank Street at Crawford Road, Fredericktown, Pa., where family and friends will gather at 10 a.m., on Friday, January 26, 2007, to proceed to a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m., in the Saint Michael Archangel Church, Saint Oliver Plunkett Parish, Fredericktown, with Rev. Paul Grunebach as Celebrant.

Interment will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Coal Center.

Military rites will be accorded by the Hancock-McCune-Horn American Legion Post 705. The B.C.R. Lions Club will hold a service at 7:30 p.m., Thursday in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial contribution be made to the Saint Oliver Plunkett Parish, P.O. Box 638, Fredericktown, Pa., 15333, or to a charity of ones choice.
