Mary Faini Kaucur

Mary Faini Kaucur, age 84 formerly of Uniontown, Pa., passed away Thursday January 19, 2007, in Sacred Heart Manor, Philadelphia.

She was born November 1, 1922, in Messmore, Pa., daughter of the late James

Vincenzo and Elizabeth Brancato Faini.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Ross on

August 20, 1997.

Mrs. Kacur met her husband Ross when he returned from service as a Marine in

World War II. They raised their family in Hopwood, Pa. As a wife and

mother she enjoyed baking, sewing and gardening. She especially enjoyed

mowing her lawn.

A lifelong learner, Mary promoted those same values in her children. She

also volunteered throughout her life at the Uniontown Hospital and the

Society of Saint Vincent DePaul. She was a member of Saint Therese de Lisieux

Roman Catholic Church and was an active member of the Altar Society. She worked

part-time in retail sales at various times in her life, mainly at Kaufman’s

and Hess’s Department Stores in Uniontown.

After Mr. Kacur died in 1997, Mrs. Kacur moved to Mount Macrina Nursing Home.

Two years later her children moved her to Sacred Heart Manor Nursing Home, a

Carmelite facility in Philadelphia, where she was lovingly cared for in the

last seven and one-half years of her life as she advanced through the stages

of Alzheimer’s disease.

Mary is survived by a son, James Kacur and wife, Marie McGowan of Texas; two

Daughters: Stephanie Epstein and husband, William of Philadelphia, and

Rosaline Baybutt and husband, Peter of Herndon, Va.; six grandchildren: Matthew

and Amanda Epstein, Andrew and Todd Baybutt, and Sean and Ryan Kacur, all of

Virginia; and a sister, Angela Jean Patrignini of Uniontown.

Friends will be received in the DOLFI FUNERAL HOME, Uniontown, on Friday from

2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and on Saturday, January 27, 2007, until 9 a.m., at which

time a Blessing Service will be held. A Mass of Christian Burial follows at

9:30 a.m., in Saint Therese de Lisieux Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. Father

Kenneth Zaccagnini, V. F. as Celebrant.

Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery.

Saint Therese Altar Society Rosary Friday evening at 7:30 p.m.
