Virginia ‘Betty’ Lindsay Karas
Virginia ‘Betty’ Lindsay Karas, 58, of Smithfield, Pa., went to be with the Lord on January 23, 2007, after a courageous battle with a debilitating illness. She was born September 21, 1948, in Detroit, Michigan, daughter of the late Walter J. Lindsay and Estelle Moody Thomas.
Betty was a Christian by faith, an avid bingo player, a loving housewife, mother and grandmother with two grandsons she loved and adored.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by brothers, William and June Lindsay.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 40 years, James ‘Jimmy’ Karas of Smithfield, Pa.; son, Jayme Karas and daughter-in-law, Heather and grandson, Noah all of Uniontown, Pa.; her daughter, Jill Karas and companion, Craig Gibbs and grandson, Kenny all of Point Marion, Pa.; sister, Dixie Haddad and her family of Chicago, Illinois; brother, Kenny Lindsay and his family of Upper Marlboro, Md., brother, Ricky Lindsay and his family of Smithfield, Pa., brother, Jimmy Lindsay and his family of Marbury, Md.; numerous nieces and nephews; and a special cousin, Betty Mesler Esquire of Eighty-four, Pa.
The family will receive friends in the DEAN C. WHITMARSH FUNERAL HOME, 134 West Church Street, Fairchance, Pa., on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and on Saturday, January 27, 2007, from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. Services will begin at 10 a.m., with Rev. Archie L. Smith officiating.
Interment will follow in Mount Moriah Baptist Cemetery, Smithfield, Pa.
