Agreement reached
Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus, recently signed official articulation agreements with Connellsville Area Career and Technical Center, and the Fayette County Vocational Technology School for its two-year associate degree of science in mining technology. According to Joe Podolinksi, assistant coordinator for contracts and grant management at Penn State Fayette, “The exciting thing about this is helping students identify and explore a career pathway in mining technology, and knowing that these opportunities really do exist. These high paying opportunities are right in our backyard.”
The articulation agreements allow for the Connellsville Area Career and Technical Center and the Fayette County Area Vo-Tech to work together and provide “a means by which graduates…can be better prepared to enter the program offered by Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus.”
The agreement ensures that secondary students have successfully completed their secondary component and acquired the skills necessary to gain them direct admission into the Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus associate degree of science in mining technology, thereby eliminating the need to pursue remedial and /or duplicated courses once enrolled at Penn State.” The mining technology program at Penn State Fayette is made possible by a grant through the Benedum Foundation.
