Dinner planned

CONNELLSVILLE – The Connellsville Area School District Falcon Foundation is hoping to tap into the popularity of the annual high school musical to help its goal of raising funds to help district students. On March 2, the foundation will host its first benefit dinner that will be held prior to the Friday night performance of “Guys and Dolls.”

“The musical is one of the most popular events in the school district and the foundation feels this is an excellent opportunity to raise funds for the foundation that provides items for the classrooms that the district budget cannot supply,” said Chip Rowan, foundation vice-president.

The dinner will be furnished by Miedel’s Restaurant owner and foundation board member Rod Allen and will include stuffed chicken breast, prime rib, green beans almandine, parsley potatoes, salad, rolls, dessert and beverage.

In keeping with the “Guys and Dolls” theme, the school cafeteria, said Rowan, will be transformed into a classy 1930s New York restaurant with foundation members and others serving as wait staff.

“It will set the mood for the musical production,” said Rowan, adding that tables that will seat eight guests will be covered with linen tablecloths with dinner served on china plates. “Those attending will not think they are in a school cafeteria.”

Another added plus to attending the dinner, said Rowan, is that reserved premium seating for the musical will be included in the cost.

“They will also have access to the parking lot which does get very crowded closer to the time of the musical,” said Rowan.

The dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m.

Tickets are $35, which includes one ticket to the 7:30 p.m. musical performance. Only 150 benefit tickets will be sold. No tickets will be sold at the door.

To reserve tickets, call Rowan at 724-626-7813; Ken Jaynes at 724-628-6129; Beth Means at 724-628-8197; Chris Tinker at 724-887-7585 or Lynda Sparks at 724-628-3100.

Any remaining dinner/musical tickets will be sold Jan. 29 and 30 at Miedel’s Restaurant, located at 1701 Buttermore Blvd., Connellsville, from 1 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m.

Benefit dinner tickets will not be available at the high school musical box office and can only be reserved through the Falcon Foundation.
