Man held on rape charges
MARIANNA – A 30-year-old Marianna man will face charges that he raped an 11-year-old girl at his home last year. In addition to the rape charge, Gary Eugene Stoneking of 2011 Bealsville Road was charged Wednesday with involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, aggravated indecent assault, statutory sexual assault and sexual assault before Magisterial District Judge Curtis Thompson.
Additionally, state police said Stoneking was charged with 55 counts of sexual abuse of children following the discovery of child pornography on his home computer.
According to the affidavit of probable cause filed in the case by Trooper James McElhaney, the girl was staying with a friend at Stoneking’s home in March 2006 when the alleged assault occurred.
McElhaney said on March 5 the girl was allegedly raped and was forced to take part in various sex acts with Stoneking.
Police said the girl’s mother described her daughter as “learning disabled” and “developmentally delayed.”
A search of Stoneking’s home following the alleged incident uncovered the child pornography on Stoneking’s computer, McElhaney said.
Physical evidence of the alleged assault also was discovered by doctors who examined the child following the alleged rape and through lab analysis of the girl’s clothing, according to police.
Stoneking, who was initially placed in the Washington County Prison on $40,000 bond, posted the bail money Thursday, according to court records.
