Woman files suit in moose head incident

By The 1 min read

A Georges Township woman filed suit against Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus last week, claiming she was injured when a moose head fell off a wall and hit her in the head. Amy Walters was taking a biology test in the Bio-Medical Building on Feb. 3, 2005, when the stuffed head, one of several, according to the suit, fell from the wall and hit her head.

The result has been persistent, severe headaches that resulted from the injury, the suit claimed.

In the suit, Walters claimed that the antlered moose head hit her in her right temple as she looked into a microscope to see a specimen that was part of the test. The hit caused her immediate pain, according to the suit, and she later went to the hospital because she was nauseous and had a headache.

Attorney Sean P. Duff alleged in the suit that Penn State Fayette officials were negligent in not making certain that the moose head was secured to the wall.
