Ron Isler is groundhog hunt winner
When it comes to hunting groundhogs, area shooters have a way to go to match Ron Isler, of Uniontown. Isler took top honors in Woodland World’s annual two-week Groundhog Hunting Contest.
He bagged the most “hogs,” killing 43, and he also took the largest as one of his “chucks” went 11 pounds, 14 ounces.
Joe Yoders, of Uniontown, finished second in total kill with 33 groundhogs to his credit, while Daniel Knopsnyder, of Uniontown, gave Isler a run for heaviest hog honors, as he bagged an 11-pound, 10-ounce bruiser.
Other hunters with double-digit kills included Josh Groover, of Farmington, 24, and Randy Knopsnyder, of Uniontown, 20.
