Virginia woman pleads guilty
A Virginia woman entered a plea to homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence of alcohol in an accident in Masontown that killed a Hibbs man. Nicole Marie Divver, 35, of King George and formerly of Masontown was charged after Donald R. David’s death on Oct. 22, 2006. He was the passenger in her truck when she hit a utility pole at the intersection of North Main Street and Harbison Avenue around 2:30 a.m.
The impact sheared a utility pole, according to police, and then the truck overturned. David died as a result of head injuries.
In December, Masontown police charged Divver with homicide by vehicle, homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs as well as six other charges.
She was captured in February by the Prince George’s Sheriff’s Department after a tip led police to her.
The plea comes with a mandatory three- to six-year sentence.
Judge John F. Wagner Jr. will sentence Divver at a later date.
