Uniontown Company launches Web site

Bradenton, Fla.

Hopwood native named co-chair

The National Association of Subrogation Professionals (NASP) has named Nicole Jordan, a native of Hopwood, as a co-chair of its Florida chapter.

Jordan, an attorney with the Snyder Law Group of Bradenton, Fla., will begin her duties as co-chair immediately. The NASP’s Southeast Region consists of subrogation professionals from Florida, Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina. The association was established in 1998 and currently has a membership of more than 1,800 claims professionals, attorneys and companies specializing in subrogation recovery.

Jordan, the daughter of William and Cindy Jordan of Hopwood, is a 1996 graduate of Laurel Highlands High School and 2002 graduate of Waynesburg College. She obtained her juris doctor degree from Stetson University College of Law in St. Petersburg, Fla., and currently practices primarily in the fields of insurance law and civil litigation.

Community Bank announces earnings

Community Bank, Carmichaels, has announced that for the second quarter, it earned $1.062 million, as compared to $731,000 for the second quarter of 2006. This is an increase of 45 percent. Year-to-date earnings are $2.031 million, as compared to $1.486 million for the first two quarters of 2006, an increase of 37 percent.

Year-to-date earnings translate to an annualized return on equity of 13.52 percent, a return on average assets of 1.14 percent and earnings per share (for two quarters) of 84 cents. As of the end of June 2006, these respective ratios stood at 10.49 percent, 0.91 percent, and 61 cents.

Assets as of June 30 totaled $365.556 million, as compared to $327.517 million at the end of last June. This is an increase of 11.61 percent.

“Community Bank has continued its strategy of growing business relationships, better serving its existing customers, diversifying its revenues, and maintaining its financial discipline. We will continue to pursue our strategic plan with vigor,” Barron P. McCune Jr., president and CEO, said.

Business workshop scheduled

SCORE will present a “Small Business Basics” workshop Saturday at Point Park University, Third Avenue and Wood Street, downtown Pittsburgh.

This workshop, which will be presented by working professionals, will help new businesses get off to the right start by studying the legal requirements of starting a business and covering key topics that will impact the success or failure of the business. Subjects covered will include business plan development, market analysis, record keeping, taxes and financial analysis, including how to obtain small business loans.

A continental breakfast will be served at 7:30 a.m. The workshop will begin at 8 a.m. and finish at 12:30 p.m.

Free, one-on-one confidential introductory counseling by SCORE counselors will be available immediately following the workshop.

Goodwill plans auto auction

Goodwill industries of Pittsburgh will hold its annual summer auto auction July 28 at its North Huntingdon auction site off Route 30 on Billott Avenue.

This auction is open to the public. Vehicle preview and registration begins at 8 a.m. Bidding begins at 10 a.m. On the bid slate are more than 60 donated vehicles, including the following: 2000 Chevy Venture, 1999 Chrysler Sebring, 1999 Dodge Ram 3500, 15 passenger van, 1997 Volkswagen Jetta, 1996 Ford Explorer, 1996 Ford Windstar, 1995 Chevy Monte Carlo, 1994 Ford Taurus, 1988 Mercedes Benz 190E and a 1977 Chevy dump truck.

A featured car at the annual summer auction will be a 1995 Mercedes Benz S500. Included on this vehicle, which has just over 55,000 miles, are leather seats, alloy wheels, electric mirrors, headlight wipers, individual climate control and a black and gray leather interior.

To purchase a vehicle, customers must place a $100 cash deposit that will be applied toward the purchase of the vehicle or refunded at the end of the auction.

Payment in full is due on the day of the auction. Acceptable payment methods include cash, checks and Visa, MasterCard and Discover credit cards. Notary service is available to transfer plates, titles and tax, and to obtain auto insurance if needed.

Each Tuesday at this location, Goodwill holds a similar weekly auction sale of donated cars, trucks, boats, motorcycles, and recreational vehicles. Anyone interested in donating his vehicle to Goodwill may call 1-888-30-40-CAR for more details. Those who donate may be eligible for a tax deduction.
