Four Raiders awarded scholarships

1 min read

Four Waynesburg Central athletes, who will continue both their educational and athletic exploits in college, were recently awarded the scholarships from the Tyler Garber Memorial Athletic Scholarship Fund. In its ninth year, the scholarship awards money for school to worthy scholar athletes from the five Greene County schools who are planning on continuing to compete in college. This year’s recipients are (l. to r.): Zach Sargent, Nick Garber, Troy Cree and Clint Podish. Sargent and Cree are both planning on playing football in the fall for their respective schools. Sargent is heading to Saint Vincent while Cree will attempt to walk on at Division II Robert Morris. Garber and Podish both look to continue their wrestling careers at Gardner-Webb University (N.C.) and Clarion, respectively. The $700 scholarship is particularly poignant for Garber, who is the older brother of Tyler. This is the ninth year for the scholarship.
