Third annual Greene County Golf Open set
The Greene County Commissioners and the Greene County Department of Recreation will hold the third annual Greene County Golf Open on July 22, 28 and 29.
The open is an individual stroke play event.
The first round of the event will be held at the Greene County Country Club on July 22 at 1 p.m. Round two will be contested at Carmichaels Golf Club on July 28 at 2 p.m. Finally, the third round will be played out at Rohanna’s Golf Course on July 29 at 10 a.m.
The open will be contested in three flights, which are based on a golfer’s USGA-certified handicap.
Golfers with a 13 handicap or higher will compete in the second flight. Competitors with a handicap between seven and 12 will play in the first flight. Finally, those with a handicap of six or less fall into the championship flight.
The winner of last year’s Championship Flight was Brian Virgin.
Anyone interested in competing must have a USGA handicap and be a Greene County resident. USGA rules will govern play and local rules will also apply.
