Civil service board sworn in

1 min read

Uniontown’s new three-member Police Civil Service Board was sworn in Tuesday in City Hall. City clerk Kim Clay administered the oath of office to (from left) the Rev. Kenneth Zaccagnini, Raymond Gilbert and James Campbell, all of Uniontown. City Council appointed them in June to revive the board, which had been dormant for a few years. Mayor James Sileo said the board soon will begin administering tests for applicants seeking jobs as city police officers and create a list of candidates based on the test results. Interviews and background checks also will be conducted. Sileo said he would like to hire at least one additional officer this year. The board will make hiring recommendations to City Council, which votes on hiring officers.
