June 10, 2007 Detour announced
The state Department of Transportation (PennDOT) District 12 said that a detour would be put in place for a section of Route 4003 (Bull Run Road) in Luzerne Township starting Tuesday and running through mid-July.
Signs for the detour will be placed on Monday, PennDOT said.
The section of Route 4003 that will be closed is from two-thirds of a mile north of the intersection of Route 4020 (Hopewell Road at Penn Craft) and Route 4003 to the intersection of Porter Road and Polk Lane with Route 4003. The posted detour will be Route 40, Route 166 and Route 4020 (Academy Road).
Health fair Monday
The United Mine Workers Health and Retirement Funds along with the Grindstone Lion’s Club are sponsoring a health fair at the West Brownsville Fire Hall on Monday from 12 to 3 p.m.
The event is free and open to the public, and a variety of health screenings are available, including lung testing, oxygen saturation testing, bone density testing, spinal assessments, glaucoma screenings, hearing and vision testing, blood glucose monitor testing, body fat analysis, foot exams by a podiatrist and genetic lung testing.
Diabetic educators will also take questions during the event, and information will be available about health and home care and rehabilitation or physical therapy. There will also be cooking demonstrations, refreshments and door prizes.
Graduation televised
The South Union Township Television Network will televise the Laurel Highlands High School graduation today at 6 p.m. on CUTV.
