WAYNESBURG – An 18-year-old Crucible man was arrested by Cumberland Township Police Monday on numerous charges stemming from allegations that he sexually assaulted a 13-year-old female juvenile during a party earlier this month. Robert W. Rodriguez was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Glenn Bates on felony counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and statutory sexual assault, and one misdemeanor count each of indecent exposure, corruption of a minor and indecent assault.

According to the criminal complaint, Cumberland Township Police Lt. Craig Miller received a call on Monday from Greene County 911 and was dispatched to a Fifth Avenue residence in Crucible to investigate a report of an alleged rape. During his investigation, Miller was informed that Rodriguez allegedly had intercourse with a 13-year-old female juvenile, the complaint states.

Miller then spoke with the alleged victim, who reported that she had attended a birthday party with some friends at a residence in Crucible at approximately 8 p.m. on June 4, the complaint states. The alleged victim also reported that most of the juveniles were drinking alcohol at the party, police said.

The juvenile said she later went into a bedroom with Rodriguez and two other people, where she and Rodriguez proceeded to engage in sexual intercourse, the complaint states.

After interviewing the juvenile, police officers located Rodriguez and took him into the police station for questioning, police said. Rodriguez admitted to police that he and the juvenile had engaged in consensual intercourse on the evening of June 4 at the Crucible residence, according to the complaint.

Following his arraignment Monday, Rodriguez was placed in Greene County Jail in lieu of $20,000 10 percent bail. His preliminary hearing has been scheduled for June 20 before Bates.
