Steve A. Yanecko
Steve A. Yanecko, 79, of Dawson, died Wednesday, February 28, 2007, in his residence. He was a former employee of New Jersey Zinc Co., Sterling Hill Mine of Odgensburg, N.J. as a miner and man cage operator with 21 years of service.
Steve was a veteran of the Armed forces serving with the United States Army with the 73rd Heavy Tank BN during the Korean Conflict. He was the recipient of the Korean Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars, Occupational Medal, Germany United Nations Service Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal attaining the rank of CPL.
He is survived by his wife, Rhoda S. Davis Cumberland Yanecko; three daughters and two sons: Susan Talmage and her husband, Carl of Supply N.C., Steve A. Yanecko, Jr. and his wife, Boey of Dingsmans Ferry, Pa., Michael Yanecko and his wife, Sandra of Dawson, Michelle Mertzig of Misquete, Texas, Barbara Craig and her husband, Thadd of Oak Ridge, N.J.; stepchildren: Kimberly S. Delbarre and husband, Ronald of Dawson, Pamela R. Domblesky and husband, Scott of Scottdale, Charles W. Cumberland and Lila Jennings of Connellsville; brother and five sisters: Mary Pender of Pittsburgh, Ann Egrn of Canton, Ohio, Pauline Korchak of Normalville, Veronica Cripps of Connellsville, Michael Yanecko and wife, Dorothy of Gibert, Ariz., Madelyn Vricik of Pittsburgh; 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren;
Friends will be received in the Frank Karp Funeral Home, Inc., 417 West Pittsburgh Street, Scottdale, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
