Samuel W. ‘Sammy’ LaFisca
But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them, which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others, which have no hope. 1 Thes. 4:13 Samuel W. “Sammy” LaFisca, 77, of Dunbar, Pa., went to be with the Lord Thursday, March 1, 2007, surrounded by his loving family in Excela Health Frick Hospital, Mount Pleasant, Pa.
He was born November 9, 1929, in Dunbar, Pa., son of the late Liborio LaFisca and the late Liboria Raymondi LaFisca.
“Sammy” worked as a journeyman cement mason and was a United States Air Force Buck Sergeant veteran. A member of Hopwood AMVETS Post 103, Master Wood Craftsman and a devoted husband, father, father-in-law and friend to everyone he met.
He was a member of Dunbar Baptist Church and Cement Masons Local 526 Pittsburgh, Pa.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Olive P. Hammett LaFisca of 56 years and his children: Danny LaFisca and wife, Linda of Davenport, Florida, Leah Ritenour and husband, Paul of Melcroft, Pa., Donald LaFisca and wife, Linda of Dunbar; sister, Rose Schwenning and husband, Francis of Akron, Ohio; brother, Michael LaFisca and wife, Ruth of Kittanning; sisters-in-law: Betty, Linda and Frances LaFisca; grandchildren: Brandon, Preston, Lauren and Jayce; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends, Ralph and Kathy Miller of Scottdale, Pa.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Clement, Joseph and Peter and sisters, Grace, Elda, Concetta and Asunta.
Friends will be received from noon to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. today, March 3, and from noon to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. on Sunday, March 4, in the BURHANS-CROUSE FUNERAL HOME, 28 Connellsville Street, Dunbar, Pa.
Additional viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Monday, March 5, 2007, in the DUNBAR BAPTIST CHURCH where services will begin at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Robert Wrachford.
Interment will be in Mount Auburn Cemetery.
