Neil Kovaly

Neil Kovaly, age 59, of Brownsville, Pa., died on Friday, March 2, 2007, in the Uniontown Hospital, Uniontown, Pa. He was born on July 18, 1947, in Brownsville, Pa., the son of John Kovaly and Anna (Gismondi) Kovaly.

Neil was a retired vocational education teacher from the McKeesport Area School District and a member of the Pennsylvania State Education Association and the McKeesport Education Association.

He had a love for all sports, especially basketball, and was a girls’ basketball coach for many years.

Neil was a sound technician for most of his life.

He began his musical career as a drummer with the band “Church Street”. His most recent job was as the sound technician for the band “8th Street Rox”.

Neil had a lifelong love for music and was devoted to education with so many students benefiting from his education.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Left to cherish his memory are: his wife, Sara (Silbaugh) Kovaly; stepchildren: Paige, Missy and Jeffrey Basista; aunt, Sophia Golitko of Denbo, Pa.; uncle Frank and aunt Ester Romeo of Uniontown, Pa.; aunt Vera Ontko of Virginia; aunt Doris Gismondi of Uniontown, Pa.; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and a very special friend, Dee Miller.

Friends will be received in the STEPHEN R. HAKY FUNERAL HOME INC., 603 North Gallatin Avenue Extension, Uniontown, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday, March 6, 2007, until 11 a.m., the hour of the Service with the Rev. Rose Bircher officiating.

Interment will follow in LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, Pa.

Visitation was also held Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m.
