6 to battle for Uniontown’s magisterial district judge post

By The Herald-Srandard 1 min read

Five Democratic hopefuls are challenging Uniontown Magisterial District Judge Mark L. Blair for the party nomination in the May 15 primary election. Blair, a one-term incumbent and former Uniontown police officer, is facing Democratic challengers Michael M. Metros, a lieutenant in the Uniontown Police Department, Ronald K. Machesky, a former city police chief and Uniontown Area School Board member, attorney Gary N. Altman, Dan Campbell and Brian Miller.

All of the candidates cross-filed except Miller who filed only as a Democrat.

Blair, who’s father Larry Blair held the office for many years, defeated Metros and Machesky for the post back in 2001.

The only other magisterial district judge race is in Belle Vernon where incumbent Jesse J. Cramer is running unopposed for both party nominations.

Tuesday was the deadline for all candidates running in the primary to file their nominating petitions with the Fayette County elections office.

Magisterial District Judges are elected to six-year terms.
