Richard Allen Richter

Richard Allen Richter, 35, of Maple Heights, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday March 6, 2007, in Havelock, N.C. He was born June 11, 1971, in Youngstown, Ohio, son of Richard Glenn Richter of Hopwood and the late Carol Jean Vaydovich Richter.

Richard Allen was a 1989, graduate of Geibel Catholic High School in Connellsville. He then attended Clarissa School of Fashion Design in Pittsburgh where he graduated at the top of his class in fashion design.

He has helped with the funding for the charity “Dress for Success” for the Cleveland area. He taught wardrobe and interviewing skills where he prepared women to meet the expectations of the workforce. He also spearheaded the Dana Buchman Fashion Show which was locally televised to benefit “Dress for Success”. He participated in fundraisers for cancer research that was attended by Wolf Gang Puck and other prominent members of society.

Mr. Richter was an apprentice at Richmond Brothers in Pittsburgh with a master tailor which enabled him to increase his knowledge of tailoring. He then moved to Cleveland and worked for Dillard’s Department Store as an area sales manager. He was invited to fashion week in New York City to assist the buyer in the next year’s fashion selection. He spent several years at Dillard’s until his health began to decline.

Richard then went on to work at Ara Mark at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland where he worked in merchandising on the Cleveland Cavalier’s website.

In addition to his mother Carol Jean Richter, he was preceded in death by his grandmother, Rosa Marie Vaydovich, who raised him, his great-grandparents, John and Mildred Schepisi, and a very special great-aunt, Joan Mathews.

He is survived by his sister, Jodie Lynn Richter of Kissimmee, Fla.; his brother, Richard G. Richter, Jr. of Pittsburgh; his goddaughter, Christina Mathews of Garfield Heights, Ohio; his aunt and uncle, Judy and Ken Nebraski of Havelock, N.C. who took care of him during his illness; his great-uncle, Frank Mathews of Maple Heights, Ohio; his father and stepmother, Glenn and Judy Richter of Hopwood; also many special cousins, who are very close to him and love him dearly.

He will be sadly missed by all of his family and friends but he will live forever in our hearts.

Friends will be received in the DOLFI FUNERAL HOME, Uniontown, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and on Saturday, March 10, 2007, until 8:30 a.m., at which time a Blessing Service will be held. A Mass of Christian Burial follows at 9 a.m., in Saint John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. Father Michael J. Crookston as Celebrant.

Interment will be held in the Sylvan Heights Cemetery.
