Betty Friend Newcomer, 73, of Amend, Uniontown, Pa., died Tuesday, March 6, 2007, in Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, West Virginia. She was born February 15, 1934, in Friendsville, Md., daughter of the late Okey R. Friend and Elma Artis Friend.

Surviving are her husband of 49 years, Charles E. “Chuck” Newcomer; two children: Patricia Swaney and her husband, Ronnie of Fairchance, Pa., and Timothy Newcomer of Fairmont, West Virginia; sister, Alice Spear of Friendsville, Maryland; brother, William O. Friend and wife, Helen of Friendsville, Maryland, and several nieces and nephews.

Private family services and burial will be under the direction of the DEAN C. WHITMARSH FUNERAL HOME, 134 West Church Street, Fairchance, Pa.
