Church to host World Missions celebration
Bethel Baptist Church, 306 Edison St., Uniontown, is striving to “Change Lives With the Unchangeable Word’ by hosting a celebration of World Missions March 14-18. Times of celebration will be Wednesday, March 14, through Friday, March 16, at 7 p.m., an international dinner on Saturday, March 17, at 5 p.m. and the final celebration on Sunday at 10:30 a.m.
Conference guests will be Russ and Susan Kessler with the Voice of Victory Prison Ministry based out of Delaware, Thomas and Sharon Huckel who have a ministry in Philadelphia to Russian Jews, Brad and Tricia Henderson, who are going to Tanzania, and guest speaker Bobby Bonner who has done extensive work in Zambia since 1988.
Bonner and his wife, Becky, have been instrumental in helping start more than 100 churches, started the North Star Bible Institute of Zambia and a pastor training course (PTC) to train nationals to reach their people with the Gospel. More than 150 men have been trained for the gospel ministry. Bonner is a former professional baseball player, having played infield for the Baltimore Orioles in 1980 and 1981 with a career batting average of .306.
