11 Fayette County fire departments respond to house fire

By Christine Haines 1 min read

Firefighters from 11 Fayette County fire departments and several from Westmoreland and Washington Counties are on the scene of a house fire on Brownsville Road in Jefferson Township near the Newell crossroads.

The fire began shortly before 5 p.m., and according to sources, at least one person has been taken from the scene by ambulance.

Rhonda Elliott, who lives next to the fire scene, said the house that is on fire is her husband’s childhood home, which is now divided into two residences occupied by her brother-in-law David Elliott and his cousin, Tom Elliott, who had recently moved to the location.

“I Know David’s out. They took somebody out in an ambulance,” Rhonda Elliott said.

Rhonda Elliott said the fire appeared to be contained to the house and had not spread to the nearby barn.
