Fayette County jurors rendered verdicts in several cases during the March term of criminal court week, including the acquittal of a Uniontown woman accused of cutting another woman with a razor knife. Nakia Janelle Williams of 135 Liberty St. was charged with aggravated assault and related crimes after she allegedly slashed Nikkisha Fitzgerald with a razor knife on March 4, 2006.
Fitzgerald told Uniontown police that Williams attacked her earlier that night at Johnny D’s bar and restaurant, located at 42 N. Gallatin Ave.
Williams was found not guilty of two counts of aggravated assault and one count each of simple assault and reckless endangerment.
Jurors also heard five drug cases during the week.
Anthony McClelland Jr., 42, of Uniontown was found guilty of possession, possession with the intent to deliver and delivery of 3.2 grams of crack cocaine. The charges were related to an April 21, 2005, incident.
Richard McGee, 20, of Uniontown was found not guilty of possession and possession with intent to deliver cocaine, but convicted of possession of 1 gram of marijuana. Those charges were related to a July 28, 2005, arrest.
Christy L. Gibson, 23, of Uniontown was convicted of possession of 2.2 grams of cocaine, but acquitted of possession with intent to deliver the drugs in relation to a March 5, 2005, arrest. Christie Lee Dewitt, 31, of Connellsville was convicted of possession, possession with the intent to deliver and delivery of 40.5 crams of cocaine. The drug transactions in the case took place on April 30, 2005.
Roy Edward Henry, 37, of Connellsville was found not guilty of possession and possession with the intent to deliver 34.5 grams of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia related to a Jan. 14, 2006, arrest.
Other verdicts handed down this week were:
– Frank H. Bowers, 46, of Mill Run was acquitted of accidents involving personal injury in Wharton Township on Dec. 14, 2005.
– Terry Keith Humphreys, 52, of Uniontown was convicted of indecent assault and corruption of minors for sexually abusing a child on Aug. 7, 1998.
– Gary Banks, 45, of Labelle was convicted of aggravated assault.
