Joseph E. Palovchalk
Joseph E. Palovchalk, age 86, of Uniontown, Pa., passed away peacefully on Friday afternoon, March 9, 2007, in the Uniontown Hospital. He was born August 17, 1920, in Trotter, Fayette County, Pa., the son of John Palovchalk and Emelia Voisak Palovchalk.
Joseph was a devoted family man, frequently forsaking his own needs to meet the needs of his wife, his daughters and his grandchildren.
He loved walking, working outdoors, gardening and basking in the beautiful sun.
He graduated from the former Dunbar Township High School.
He served overseas in the United States Army. During his military tenure, he received the World War II Victory Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with two Bronze Service Stars.
Joseph was a member of Saint Mary (Nativity) Roman Catholic Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 47, both in Uniontown.
He had worked for many years at the now former Anchor Hocking Glass Plant in South Connellsville, Pa.
Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, by his sisters, Mary Soltis, Susan Roy, Pauline Ambrisco, Emma Hudock, Margaret Pellish and Clara Zelesnik, and brothers, Michael Palovchalk and Andrew Palovchalk.
Joseph is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Marguerite Serafin Palovchalk; his loving and devoted daughters: Roxanne M. Lepore and her husband, Alphonse, of Hershey, Pa., and Mary Jo Kinnick and her husband, Dean, of Connellsville, Pa.; his grandchildren whom he cherished: Travis Shaffer of New York City, New York, Jillian Kinnick and Jordan Kinnick both of Connellsville, Pa.; and several loving nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received in the KEZMARSKY FUNERAL HOME, 71 Pennsylvania Avenue, Uniontown, Pa., on Monday, March 12, 2007, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday, March 13, 2007, until 9:30 a.m. when Prayers of Transfer will be said.
A Mass of Christian Burial follows at 10 a.m. in Saint Mary (Nativity) Roman Catholic Church, North Mount Vernon Avenue, with the Rev. Father Micah E. Kozoil as Celebrant.
Interment will follow in Mount Macrina Cemetery, Uniontown, where Military Honors will be accorded at graveside.
Parish Wake Service will be held in the Funeral Home on Monday at 2:30 p.m.
