Spring cleanup set in Georges Township
GEORGES TWP. – Georges Township supervisors announced Monday that the annual spring cleanup week will be held during the first week of April. Supervisor Frank Churby said the service is free to all township residents.
Residents who wish to have material picked up should deposit the items outside with their garbage on their normal trash collection day.
Churby said hazardous materials, including batteries and tires, are not permitted.
In unrelated business, supervisors announced that a resident is needed to serve on the Georges Creek Municipal Authority.
Supervisors said the vacancy was created due to the death of a former board member.
To serve on the municipal authority, a person had to be a township resident and must be connected to the sewer system.
Anyone interested in serving on the authority can call the township shed at 724-564-9715.
Supervisors also conducted the following business:
– Approved a motion authorizing solicitor Ricardo Cicconi to prepare an addendum to a road maintenance agreement with Swenglish & Sons Co. Inc., thus extending the agreement for one year.
– Adopted a resolution approving the Community Development Block Grant Program for the 2007 fiscal year, which includes a three-year Community Development Plan.
– Passed a motion authorizing township secretary Linda Smith to advertise bids for several items, including stone, cold patch and diesel fuel.
