Donald M. ‘Hoonie’ Hoone
Donald M. ‘Hoonie’ Hoone, 80, of Smithfield, Pa., died Tuesday, March 13, 2007, at home. He was born October 15, 1926, in Smithfield, Pa., son of the late Harry Hoone and Margaret Osler Hoone.
He was predeceased by his wife, Regina Rose Macar Hoone on February 27, 2004, and a brother, Harold Hoone.
Surviving are two sons: Samuel W. Hoone and his wife, Jamie of Smithfield, Pa., and Roger G. Hoone and his wife, Debbie of Point Marion, Pa.; nine grandchildren: Alicia Hoone, Kaitlyn Hoone, Matthew Hoone, Ryan Wiles, Devin Wiles, Kelli Ash and her husband, Larry, Kristi James, Samuel J. Hoone, and Melody Hoone; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; caregiver, Vickie Plum, and family friend, Robert A. Hickey.
Mr. Hoone was a 60-year member of the Smithfield Volunteer Fire Department and served as Past Chief and Assistant Chief. He also was president of the former Smithfield Ambulance Corporation. In 1991, he retired from the Tri-State Oil Company after 40 years of service.
The family will receive friends in the GOLDSBORO-TOMI FUNERAL HOME, 21 East Church Street, Fairchance, Pa., on Thursday, March 15, 2007, until 11 a.m., the hour of the service with the Rev. Robert J. Robinson officiating.
Interment will follow in the Mount Moriah Baptist Church Cemetery, Smithfield, Pa.
