George E. Molesy
George E. Molesy, 83, of Uniontown, Pa., died Monday, March 12, 2007, in the Uniontown Hospital. He was born January 1, 1924, in Uniontown, Pa., the son of the late Avery Molesy and Nan Hasson Molesy.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his two brothers, Lester and Arthur Molesy, and his sister, Mildred Molesy.
George graduated from the Uniontown High School with the Class of 1942. He served with the United States Army during World War II. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart having been wounded during his service with the 104th Infantry Division in the European Theatre. George was employed with the Uniontown Newspapers for 45 years. At the time of his retirement in December of 1991, George was the publisher. George was a member of the Fayette County Senior Golf Association, the Springdale Golf League, VFW Post 47 of Uniontown, and Saint John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church. In February of 1986, President Ronald Reagan invited George to the Editors and Publishers Conference, which included lunch at the White House.
George is survived by his wife of 58 years, Matilda Krol Molesy; a son, Andrew E. Molesy of Charlottesville, Va.; and a daughter, Michelle Strcula and her husband, Rodger of Ormond Beach, Fla.; and three grandchildren: Jeffrey, Rachel, and Kevin.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the ANDREW D. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, INC., 80 Morgantown Street in Uniontown, where the family will receive friends in the funeral home on Thursday, March 15, 2007, from 7 until 9 p.m., and on Friday, March 16, from 2 until 4 p.m., and 7 until 9 p.m. Visitation will continue on Saturday, March 17, from 9 until 9:45 a.m., in the funeral home, followed by a Mass celebrating George’s life at Saint John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Father Michael Crockston.
Interment will follow in the Mount Saint Macrina Cemetery, Uniontown, Pa..
Uniontown VFW Post 47 will afford military rites at the cemetery.
