Lower Tyrone issues road bond
LOWER TYRONE TWP. – Supervisors Wednesday agreed to issue a road bond for Linden Hall Road and the Lucky Lane area of the township. Supervisor Chairman George Gillespie said Brown Timber Land Co. would be removing trees from the area.
In other matters, resident Emma Jane Davis told the supervisors that they could change their health insurance coverage for newly elected supervisors. Davis said under a state plan, supervisors who are already covered can continue that coverage, but newly elected supervisors would not be covered.
Davis said it cost the township more than $2,000 a month to ensure supervisors who have opted into the health insurance plan.
Sherry Ferris told the supervisors that Towner Road is in need of repairs. The supervisors agreed to fix the road as soon as weather permits. Supervisor Ernie Walters said township road workers would have to dig up a portion of the road in order to do the job right.
Tax collector Linda Cottom asked the supervisors for a donation for the Brownfield Community Center’s Easter party. The supervisors agreed to give the center $100.
Cottom said the participation last year was great. She also encouraged township residents to volunteer their time during the party on April 6. She said the center needs all of the help it can get.
