South Union to resurface streets
Nine streets in South Union Township will be resurfaced this year, as supervisors awarded a contract to the lowest bidder during Wednesday’s meeting. Supervisors voted unanimously to award the $103,346 road-resurfacing contract to Victor Paving & Construction of Monongahela.
The construction company came in at the lowest bid at $63.17 a ton. Five other companies submitted higher bids.
In unrelated business, supervisors approved a request from Primo Vino, LLC to transfer a liquor license from Uniontown into the township.
Officials with Primo Vino plan to open Pasta Lorenzo, a family-style Italian restaurant, on Wayland Smith Drive.
Joe Carei, a partner in Primo Vino, said plans call for the restaurant to serve alcohol on a limited schedule, until 10 p.m. during the week and 11 p.m. on weekends.
A public hearing was held in conjunction with Wednesday’s regular meeting and no public testimony, other than Carei’s, was presented during the hearing.
Since supervisors approved the transfer, the state Liquor Control Board will now decide whether or not they wish to award the license.
As for other matters, supervisors passed a resolution approving sewage planning modules for the Maxim Development Plan, which includes 20 lots.
The housing development will be located between Hague Lane and Wiggins Lane.
Supervisors will next meet at 4 p.m. April 4 in the township building.
