Ewing G. Miller
Ewing G. Miller, 86, of Carmichaels, Pa., died Thursday, March 15, 2007, in Rolling Meadows Nursing Care Center, Waynesburg, Pa., Ewing was born on May 29, 1920, at Paisley, Cumberland Township, Pa., the son of the late Edward and Blanche Marshall Miller.
Mr. Miller enlisted in the United States Army in 1941, and served with the 100th Infantry Division in Europe. He accepted a Battlefield Commission and was awarded a Bronze Star in Germany. He was recalled to service during the Korean War, received a second Bronze Star, and retired a Captain in 1959. Between the two wars, Ewing served as a Point Marion Police Officer.
Mr. Miller retired as a Pennsylvania State Parole Agent working in Greene and Fayette Counties with 25 years of service.
On January 30, 1946, he married Erma Hewitt Miller who died September 26, 2006.
He was a member of the Sugar Grove Baptist Church, Carmichaels Grange #1389 and the former Rotary Club of Carmichaels.
He is survived by the following children, Kay L. Zoldos and husband Robert of Leesburg, Virginia and Carmichaels, Mary Jo Jefferson and husband Joseph of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Amy Morris and husband Douglas of Falls Church, Virginia and Clarksville, Pa.; grandchildren, Robert II and Thomas Zoldos, Traci Romedy McNatt and Daniel Morris; great-grandchildren, Kathleen Zoldos, Robert Zoldos III, and Brooks “LB” Romedy.
Friends will be received in the PAUL M. LESAKO FUNERAL HOME INC., 204 Dowlin Avenue, Carmichaels, Paul M. Lesako, Supervisor/Funeral Director on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 10 until 11 a.m. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Frank Vucic officiating.
Full Military Rites will be accorded by the American Legion Post 400 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3491 at Glades Cemetery, Route 88, Carmichaels, Pa.
