Uniontown Fabric, craft store opens
The new Fayette Country Fabrics & Crafts in Fayette Plaza, 611 Pittsburgh Road, Uniontown, features a variety of fabrics, yarns and notions for construction of quilts, personal apparel and home furnishings, as well as instruction in the crafts of sewing, quilting, knitting and scrap-booking. Children’s crafts and art classes are also available.
Owned and operated by Crystal Jozefick of Uniontown and Fran McLaughlin of
Connellsville, the shop is an independent fabric and craft store whose focus is customer service.
Developed with the help of First National Bank, Fayette County Commissioner Angela Zimmerlink, members of the Fayette County SCORE office and the Small Business Administration, the shop is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday with Sundays reserved for craft parties for children.
Because owners Jozefick and McLaughlin strive to promote area artists, they also deal in consignments of items handmade by local crafters and designers. Consignments are accepted with appointments made by calling 724-437-7300 or 724-437-7373, or by stopping at the store.
The store also offers the opportunity to customers to try a new craft. Provided for machine sewing, scrap-booking, greeting card-making, polymer clay sculpting and painting are craft areas and necessary tools. Also available are craft and play areas for children’s use while parents are shopping or crafting in the store.
Fayette Country Fabrics and Crafts also sponsors a newsletter promoting its current classes. Other services include craft kits for church and scout troops, as well as a bake sale table in-store on Saturdays only.

Prudential names agency manager
Prudential Financial has named former Brownsville resident Helene Chamberlain as manager, financial services, of its western Pennsylvania agency, 1001 Ardmore Ave.
In this new position, Chamberlain will be responsible for the recruitment, selection, development, retention and supervision of financial services associates who participate in a career development program that enables them to offer insurance and investment products to help clients meet their financial goals.
Previously, Chamberlain was a financial service associate, who started with Prudential in 2005. She is a graduate of Indiana University, with a bachelor of science degree in marketing.

SBDC schedules workshops
The University of Pittsburgh Small Business Development Center has scheduled two workshops in April in Waynesburg and Washington.

Grindstone
New child center opens
Little Kid Zone Child Care Inc. has opened a second facility in the lower level of 6381 National Pike, Grindstone.
The center offers child care services for children age six weeks to 13 in either full or part-day mode. The center also offers drop-in and emergency care, before and after school care and services to Cardale and Cox Donahey schools before and after school.
Services include a food program, pre-kindergarten program and collaboration with Fayette County Head Start.
Owner Denise Kooser has also applied from the Keystone Stars program certification at the Grindstone and Connellsville Street, Uniontown, sites.
Payment means accepted include CCIS, Department of Public Welfare and private pay.
The center is open from 6 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
