John W. Barlow

John W. Barlow, age 73, of Addison, Pa., died Friday, March 16, 2007, in Henry Clay Villa, Markleysburg, Pa. He was born August 9, 1933, in Washington County, Pa., the son of William and Mary (Openshaw) Barlow.

John was a member of Addison United Methodist Church where he formerly taught Sunday School and served as a Trustee; also a member of the Confluence Lions Club, the PSEA and the NEA.

He belonged to the Boy Scouts of America for 61 years beginning in 1945, was Scout Master of Troop 150, Confluence, for many years and served as a Committeeman until his death.

He retired from the Turkeyfoot Valley School District after teaching for 30 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Betsy (Wright) Barlow; mother-in-law, Betty Wright; sons: Johnny, Addison, Pa., Gary and wife Jennifer, Confluence, Pa., and Bill and wife Megan, Fort Hill, Pa.; grandchildren: Molly, Garrison and Abigail Barlow; brother, James Barlow, Elizabeth, Pa.; sisters: Sara Kennedy, Hanover, Pa., and Nancy Barlow, Zeeland, Michigan.

There will be no viewing or visitation.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Wednesday, March 21, at 7 p.m. in the ADDISON UNITED METHODIST CHURCH with the Rev. John Snyder officiating.

Family suggests memorial contributions to Addison United Methodist Church or the Addison Volunteer Fire Department, Addison, PA 15411.
