Lucia “Lucy” Mariotti of Republic, Pa., passed away peacefully Friday, March 16, 2007, in Mount Macrina Manor, Uniontown, Pa. She was born in North Union Township, Fayette County, Pa., on December 13 (Saint Lucy’s Day), the daughter of Amedio Mariotti and Maria Vespucci Mariotti.

“Lucy” was a member of Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church in Republic where she served on the Pastoral Council and was the first Eucharistic Minister at Holy Rosary.

She graduated from California State College (now California University of Pennsylvania) with a Bachelor of Science Degree.

She was a member of the Brownville General Hospital Auxiliary, the Board of Directors of the Republic Library, and a member of the Uniontown Art Club.

“Lucy” retired from the Fayette County Court where she served as a stenographer for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents and by her four brothers, Amerigo, Daniel, Victor and Greg Mariotti.

She is survived by a sister, Vera Mariotti Ercegovic of Fairview Park, Ohio, and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received in the DEARTH FUNERAL HOME, 35 South Mill Street, New Salem, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Tuesday, March 20, 2007, until 9:30 a.m. when brief Prayers will be said in the Funeral Home.

A Mass of Christian Burial follows at 10 a.m. in Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, Republic, with the Rev. Father Stephen R. Bugay as Celebrant.

Interment will follow in LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, Pa.

“Lucy” loved her church family and will miss them as much as they will surely miss her! Her family and friends offer a special thank you to all those at Mount Macrina that helped in her time of need.
