California community meeting set
CALIFORNIA – In an effort to increase dialogue between the California Borough government, California University of Pennsylvania, and all other clubs and organizations in California, Mayor Casey Durdines is organizing a community meeting to be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 29, at the California Municipal Building. The meeting is tentatively being called the Mayor’s Council on Community Unification and Durdines hopes that it will meet regularly.
The intention of the meetings will be to find ways in which the different organizations in California Borough can work together to achieve their goals. It is also to discuss how the actions of one group may affect the Borough as a whole.
Durdines first proposed to hold this meeting after attending the quarterly Community Leadership Breakfast held at California University of Pennsylvania on March 7. “Every day I drive past the Welcome to California sign and on it is our town’s motto which reads ‘Working Together as One.’ It’s time that we start doing what our motto says,” said Durdines.
Invited guests include but are not limited to members of the following organizations: California Borough Council, California Historical Society, California Ministerial Association, California Chamber of Commerce, California Volunteer Fire Dept., California Borough Police Dept., California University of Pennsylvania, and other community leaders. All citizens concerned about the future of California Borough are welcome and encouraged to attend this event.
