Sophia A. Juriga Mullen
Sophia A. Juriga Mullen, 92, of Allison, Pa., passed away Sunday, March 18, 2007, at the home of her daughter, Kathleen Decaneva, in Silver Spring, Maryland. She was born March 2, 1915, in Shoaf, Fayette County, Pa., the daughter of John Juriga and Rose Hlatky Juriga.
Sophia was a member of Holy Rosary Church, Republic, Pa., The Confraternity of Christian Mothers and the Allison 2 Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph B. Mullen, sons, Paul Mullen and Joseph Mullen, a sister, Helen Juriga Furman, brothers, John Juriga and Joseph Juriga, and parents.
Surviving are a son, Thomas Mullen of Germantown, Maryland; daughters: Kathleen Decaneva of Silver Spring, Maryland, and Christine Mullen of Silver Spring, Maryland; six grandchildren: five great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; and a sister, Stella Juriga Benjamin of Wickliffe, Ohio.
Friends will be received in the ROBERT T. KISH FUNERAL HOME INC., 19 LEGION STREET, REPUBLIC, Pa., on Wednesday, March 21, 2007, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday, March 22, 2007, until 9:30 a.m. when a Prayer Service will be held.
A Funeral Mass follows at 10 a.m. in Holy Rosary Church, Republic, with the Rev. Father Stephen R. Bugay as Celebrant.
Interment will follow in LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, Pa.
Parish Wake Service will be held on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Sophie’s name may be made to the Montgomery Hospice, 1355 Piccard Drive, Rockville, MD 20850.
