The Education Council of the Fayette Chamber of Commerce has honored Gregory S. Turko of Uniontown, and a junior at Laurel Highlands High School, as a Student of the Month for January. The son of Timothy and Susan Turko, Turko is undecided about which post secondary school he hopes to attend, but plans to study architecture. He works part time at McDonald’s and seasonally at the Uniontown Mall. He is an altar server and Youth Group Officer at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and a member of the Greek Catholic Union. He was also recognized by Who’s Who Among American Students, United Council of Mathematics Association, Student of the Month, All County and All Section Soccer Teams.
Turko is involved in the extracurricular activities at Laurel Highlands High School. His activities include: soccer, track, JETS, Quiz Team, Math Team, Math Club, Science Bowl, Chemistry Olympics, Student Forum, Student Government, Student Council and Spanish Club.
