Uniontown woman faces trial in alleged assault of officers
A Uniontown woman accused of assaulting three Uniontown police officers will stand trial after all charges against her were held for court last month. Jamie M. Davis, 36, of 150 Walnut St., was charged Feb. 22 before Magisterial District Judge Mark L. Blair with aggravated assault, simple assault, resisting arrest, endangering the welfare of a child, harassment and cruelty to animals.
Blair bound all the charges for Fayette County Court Feb. 28, according to district court officials.
Uniontown police Detective Jason A. Cox said the incident began when officers were dispatched to Davis’ home at 3 a.m. Feb. 20 for a reported hang-up call.
Cox said that after officers knocked on the door of the home for several minutes, Davis answered and appeared to be crying and had a bloody lip.
Cox said that there is a history of domestic violence at the residence and police decided to enter the home to ensure Davis’ safety.
Cox said police found the house being heated by an open electric stove set at 400 degrees in the kitchen and a kerosene heater in the living room.
Cox said officers then heard noises from the basement of the house and found an 11-week-old puppy in the basement, which was flooded with 3 inches of water mixed with raw sewage.
At that point, officers called the Uniontown Fire Department to the scene. Fire officials said the home was not fit for human habitation, Cox said.
Police then took Davis’ 5-year-old daughter into protective custody and took Davis into police custody for endangering the welfare of children.
Once at the police station, Cox said Davis became verbally abusive toward the officers and tried to leave with her daughter.
As officer Jennifer Field tried to get Davis into a holding cell to await Fayette County Children and Youth Services, Davis allegedly punched Field in the chest and throat, Cox said.
Police then used a TASER gun to try and subdue Davis, but she turned on Officer Dennis Field and caused the TASER to impact his left arm, Cox said.
Davis continued to fight and allegedly kicked Dennis Field and Officer Raymond Miller and bit Jennifer Field on the arm as they continued to use the TASER on her. Davis was finally subdued after police used the TASER on her a fourth time. Both Jennifer and Dennis Field suffered minor injuries as a result of the scuffle.
