Ernest S. “Ernie” Schimmel, age 71, of Grindstone, Pa., passed away Saturday, March 24, 2007, at his residence. He was born April 28, 1935, in Charleroi, Pa., the son of Ernest W. Schimmel and Mildred Sutton Schimmel.

In 1962, Ernest and his brother, Joseph, started Route 51 Auto Wreckers, Smock, Pa.

Surviving are two sons: Brett Schimmel and his wife, Roileen, of New Salem, Pa., and Kurt Schimmel and his wife, Kathy, United States Air Force, of Palmer, Alaska; four grandchildren: Brett Schimmel, Justin Schimmel, Kaitlyn Schimmel and Michael Bowles; brothers: Joseph Schimmel and his wife, Wanda, of Waltersburg, Pa., and Norman Spaw and his wife, Cindy, of Fairchance, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received in the ROBERT T. KISH FUNERAL HOME, 20 NORTH MILL STREET, NEW SALEM, Pa., on Wednesday, March 28, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m.

Private Services and interment will be held for the family.
