Missing Greene man contacts family

By The 1 min read

A Greene County man missing since Sunday night made contact with his family early Tuesday to let them know he was safe, bringing an end to search efforts to find him. Bruce A. Anderson, 51, left his home on Moffit Road in Dilliner, Dunkard Township, around 6:45 p.m. Sunday.

State police in Waynesburg said Anderson left his home on foot, and family members reported him missing when he didn’t return.

The call prompted searchers from state police, Bobtown and Greensboro volunteer fire departments, Fayette County Sheriff Department search and rescue team, Greene County Emergency Management and the Salvation Army to look for him throughout the night Monday.

Fayette County Sheriff Gary D. Brownfield, who organizes the county’s search and rescue team, said volunteers were out from 9:30 p.m. Monday until 3:30 a.m. Tuesday looking for Anderson.

Brownfield said searchers on all-terrain vehicles, and those using dogs searched a little more than a square mile where Anderson was last seen, but found no traces of him.

Brownfield said Anderson was picked up by a friend near his home shortly after he left.
