Connellsville resident faces drug charges
CONNELLSVILLE – A city resident faces a May 8 preliminary hearing in connection with a Christmas Eve incident at a local sports bar where in addition to allegedly being intoxicated, he was also in possession of cocaine. Richard S. Blackstone, 35, with a last known address of 210 W. Morton Ave., is charged with possession of cocaine, possession with intent to deliver, public drunkenness and disorderly conduct in connection with the Dec. 24 incident.
According to the criminal complaint filed by Connellsville police Sgt. Ron Haggerty, Blackstone was allegedly observed in the parking lot of Bud Murphy’s arguing with an unidentified female and then pushed her to the ground.
When approached by responding officers, Blackstone was found to have “glassy-red, bloodshot eyes, slow-slurred speech, poor motor skills and a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath.”
Police said that a subsequent search of Blackstone revealed he was in possession of 1.9 grams of cocaine and $2,401.
Blackstone was arraigned Sunday on the charges before Magisterial District Judge Wendy Dennis and posted the imposed $10,000 percentage bond.
He faces a preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge Robert Breakiron.
