He was born on November 22, 1944, a son of Olive Moore French of Smithfield, Pa., and the now late Frank R. French.
He was a past member of Smithfield United Methodist Church prior to moving to Florida. He worked as an engineer at Kennedy Space Center for Martin Marietta Lockheed-Martin and United Space Alliance for 27 years.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Stevens French; sons: Frank French Jr. of Heidelburg, Germany, Timothy French of Greensboro, N.C.; stepsons: Tim R. Palmer of Whitby, Canada, Chris Smith of Brantford, Ontario, Canada, and Andrew Palmer of Titusville, Fla.; daughters: Theresa French of Ariz., Christine Rubid, Emily Costello, and Mellisa Foster all of Titusville, Fla.; one brother, Mark French of Perryopolis, Pa.; one sister, Linda Caurby of Dayton, Ohio; and his mother, Olive Moore French of Smithfield, Pa.; and nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Frank R. French, and an infant grandson.
The family will receive friends in the JOHN F. BROWNFIELD FUNERAL HOME, Smithfield, Pa., on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and on Friday May 4, 2007, until 11 a.m., when services will be conducted with Rev. George W. McLaughlin officiating.
Interment will be held in Mount Moriah Cemetery, Smithfield, Pa.
