Man arrested after police chase

CENTERVILLE – State police took one unidentified man into custody after a pursuit of a stolen vehicle in the Vesta 6 area in Washington County Monday night. According to a spokesman for Washington County 911, police were chasing two men in a stolen vehicle around 8:30 p.m. when the suspects’ car left the road and traveled into the Monongahela River.

Officials said one of the men, who were not immediately identified, was taken into custody at the scene of the crash in Centerville Borough.

It was not clear whether police were able to locate the second man or whether he was still in the car when it crashed into the river.
