David R. Teegarden, 81, of Nemacolin, Pa., died at 2:55 a.m. on Tuesday, May 1, 2007 at Southwest Regional Medical… David R. Teegarden, 81, of Nemacolin, Pa., died at 2:55 a.m. on Tuesday, May 1, 2007 at Southwest Regional Medical Center, Waynesburg, Pa.

He was born March 28, 1926 in Rices Landing, Pa., a son of the late Hiram and Eunice (Browder) Teegarden.

Mr. Teegarden was a graduate of Jefferson High School and attended Lehigh University. He served with the United States Marine Corps in the Pacific during World War II and fought in battles in Okinawa and the Ryukyu Islands. Mr. Teegarden worked as manager for the former Acme Store in Waynesburg for about 21 years and then worked from 1981 until 1991 as a corrections officer at the Greene County Prison. He was a former member of the Hewitt Presbyterian Church, a former member of the Nemacolin Volunteer Fire Company, a member of Waynesburg Lodge No. 153, F.&A.M., the Scottish Rite Bodies in the Valley of Coudersport and Filer Sadlek American Legion Post 954 of Jefferson, Pa. Mr. Teegarden enjoyed hunting and fishing and cherished the company of his family, especially his grandchildren.

On June 14, 1974, he married Jennifer A. Antonini, who died January 22, 2004.

Surviving are three sons: Richard Teegarden of Clarksville, Pa., Randy Teegarden and his wife, Carol of Rices Landing and Eric Joseph Teegarden and his wife, Lynelle of Nemacolin; two grandchildren: Lynn M. Teegarden and Dustin E. Teegarden; a brother, William Teegarden and his wife, Helen of Rices Landing; a sister, Virginia Wood of Waynesburg; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased are six brothers, Glenn and Ralph Teegarden, both who died in infancy, George Teegarden, Marion Teegarden, Oliver Teegarden and Hiram S. Teagarden and a sister, Hazel Rhodes.

Family and friends are welcomed from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday in the YOSKOVICH FUNERAL HOME (724-966-5500), Martin J. Yoskovich, Funeral Director, 300 South Vine Street (Route 88), Carmichaels, Pa. where funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 5, 2007, with the Rev. John Rich Dorean officiating. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum at Greene County Memorial Park, Waynesburg.

American Legion Post 954 will accord military honors at the mausoleum.
