Julia Grace (Agostini) Ciarrocchi, 78, of Uniontown, Pa., passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 2, 2007, in the Uniontown Hospital.

… Julia Grace (Agostini) Ciarrocchi, 78, of Uniontown, Pa., passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 2, 2007, in the Uniontown Hospital.

She was born April 3, 1929, in Uniontown, Pa., the daughter of the late Luigi Agostini and Rose (Lucia) Agostini.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving companion, Andrew “Possum” Turick.

Mrs. Ciarrocchi was a graduate of the former North Union High School and Waynes-burg College. She earned a B.S. degree

in Accounting / Business Education and her M.E. in Education. She was a Business and Economics teacher in the Laurel Highlands School District from 1968 to 1992. Julia was the first woman president of the Laurel Highlands Education Association and Chairman of the Fayette County Political Action Committee for Education. She was honored as “National Economics Teacher of the Year” as a result of her students placing first in the National Economics Competition. She was also a chief negotiator for two teacher contracts and administrative contracts.

Following her retirement, Julia served eight years as School Director for Laurel Highlands School District.

In addition, she was a former board member of both the SPCA and the DPA.

She was a member of Saint Therese de Lisieux Roman Catholic Church.

She is survived by her loving and devoted son, Emilio “Chip” Ciarrocchi and his wife, Deborah; her grandchildren whom she adored: Dana, Jilllian and Gina Ciarrocchi; her brother, Luigi “Weeg” Agostini and wife, Elaine of Hopwood, Pa.; nieces and nephews: Louis “Weeger” Agostini and wife, Darlene, Darin Agostini and wife, Rachel, Lisa DiSora and husband, Mark and Mia Rayman and husband, Ron; several loving great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives, friends and neighbors.

Friends will be received in the KEZMARSKY FUNERAL HOME, 71 Pennsylvania Avenue, Uniontown, Pa., on Saturday, May 5, 2007, from 6 to 9 p.m., Sunday, May 6, 2007, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday until 9 a.m. when a Blessing Service will be held followed by a 9:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Saint Therese de Lisieux Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. Father Kenneth G. Zaccagnini V.F. as Celebrant.

Interment follows in Sylvan Heights Cemetery.
