Harold H. Miner, age 86, of Point Marion, Pa., passed away unexpectedly Friday, May 4, 2007, in the Ruby Memorial… Harold H. Miner, age 86, of Point Marion, Pa., passed away unexpectedly Friday, May 4, 2007, in the Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, West Virginia.

Born July 28, 1920, in Normal-ville, Pa., he was the son of Frank Miner and Ida Belle Grimm Miner.

A 1939 graduate of Connellsville High School, he was a United States Navy Veteran of World War II.

An electrician by trade, Harold retired from the now former Houze Glass Corporation in Point Marion after over 30 years employment and was a member of the American Flint Glass Workers Union Local 547.

He was predeceased by his much-loved wife of 62 years, Emma Blosser Miner on January 30, 2007, by brothers, Howard Miner and Homer Miner, by sisters, Hilda Cole and Eleanor Provance, a half-sister, Ruth Shawley, and his parents.

Left to cherish his memory are his seven children and their spouses: Sharon and Barry Hawthorne of Lake Lynn, Pa., Judy Sandor of Lake Milton, Ohio, Joyce Miner of Point Marion, Pa., Keith and Susan Miner of Gans, Pa., Nita and Danny Rhodes of Point Marion, Pa., Don and Brenda Miner of Fairchance, Pa., and Carol and Tadd Kezmarsky of Uniontown, Pa.; 14 grandchildren: Lori Groover, Richard Hawthorne, Bryan Hawthorne, Kevin Hawthorne, Krista Grope, Michael Sandor, Eric Sandor, Melissa Whitman, Keith Miner, Amy Rhodes, Jake Miner, Kate Miner, Andrea Kravats and Sean Kravats; eight great-grandchildren: Sharon Groover, Anne Groover, Benjamin Groover, Lainie Grope, Emma Grope, Ryan Hawthorne, Nathan Whitman and Natalie Whitman; two step-great-granddaughters: Angela Whitaker and Mallory Whitaker; a brother, Wayne Miner of Monaca, Pa.; a sister, Arla Borghi and her husband, William, of Monaca, Pa.; two half-brothers: Don Miner and Marvin Miner; and two half-sisters: Betty Lou Rugg and Lenora Cox.

Friends will be received in the RICHARD R. HEROD FUNERAL HOME, 501 Morgantown Street, Point Marion, Pa., today from 7 to 9 p.m., Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday, May 8, until 11 a.m., the hour of the Service with the Rev. William L. Parker officiating.

Interment will follow in Jacobs Lutheran Cemetery, Masontown, Pa., where Military Rites will be accorded at the graveside by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 747 and the American Legion Post 499, both of Point Marion.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be offered to the West Virginia University Children’s Hospital, Medical Center Drive, Morgantown, WV 26506.
