Janet A. Schaefer Densmore Reddy, age 88, known as “Mother” to her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, passed away peacefully… Janet A. Schaefer Densmore Reddy, age 88, known as “Mother” to her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 4, 2007, with her beloved family at her bedside in Mount Saint Macrina Manor.

She was born on January 7, 1919, in Castle Shannon, Pa., daughter of John and Cora Lucy (Montague) Schaefer.

Janet was a member of the United Christian Temple and General George C. Marshall AMVETS Post 103 Auxiliary.

“Mother” was a compassionate and caring woman who guided her family in life with words of wisdom and a heart filled with unconditional love. She adored her four children who were devoted and committed to her always.

“Mother” loved to cook spaghetti and meatballs, and in September, her family always looked forward to receiving a jar of her delicious grape jelly that she made from her own grape arbor.

“Mother” was married to Frank T. Densmore who predeceased her on October 3, 1967. Mother and Pappy had four children whom they raised together. Her oldest daughter, Barbara Kay Sabula, predeceased her on May 9, 2002. She was also predeceased by her second husband, Charles Reddy in 1979 and one grandson, Steven Sabula in 1997.

Blessed to cherish her memory are her daughter, Janet Lee Snowdon and her husband, Buddy, Jacquelyn Carlson and her husband, Dan, and her son, Robert Frank Densmore and his fiancee, Joyce Smith, all from Uniontown, Pa.

“Mother” adored and loved her 15 grandchildren: Sharon Fields, Janelle Wallace, Frank Sabula, Barbara Ann Weygant, Susan Shields and Lisa Sabula (children of Barbara Kay); Jamie Snowdon-Hibbs, Jacquelyn Kay Scalese and Janet Adamsky (children of Janet Lee); Terri Lynn McCoy and Traci Ann O’Toole (children of Jackie) and Robert Frank Densmore Jr., Eric Densmore and Anne Fox (children of Frankie).

“Mother” loved her 28 great-grandchildren and numerous great-great-grandchildren.

A special thank you to all at Mt. Macrina who cared for Mother with the utmost dignity and compassion she deserved. Also, thank you to Albert Gallatin Hospice for their faith and encouragement they gave not only to Mother, but her extended family as well.

FUNERAL HOME INC., 603 North Gallatin Avenue Extension, Uniontown. Pa., today, May 6, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, May 7, 2007, at 11 a.m. in the Stephen R. Haky Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Galen Winebrenner officiating.

Interment will follow in the Sylvan Heights Cemetery.
